management consulting solutions and services, today announced that its client the U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) has been chosen as a 2011 Laureate in IDG’s
Computerworld Honors Program. The annual award program recognizes visionary application of information technology promoting positive social, economic, and educational change. Hitachi Consulting designed and is implementing BIA’s award-winning, Microsoft-based social services case management solution.
Chartered with providing financial assistance and social services to the neediest in Indian Country, BIA reaches 565 federally recognized tribes, managing social services for a service population of about 1.9 million American Indian and Alaska natives. Before the new solution, BIA was using a largely paper-based system, supported only by an obsolete mainframe system for processing payments.
